Our white-glove process for firearm collections
Selling a collection or estate shouldn’t feel complicated. We’ve built a streamlined, personal process that keeps you in control and takes the pressure off your shoulders.
- Document your collection.
- Use our intake spreadsheet to list each firearm’s make, model, caliber and condition, along with the folder containing your photos. This gives our team everything we need to review your collection quickly and accurately.
- We evaluate the collection.
- Our specialists personally review every item (no automated valuations) and provide a detailed offer within 72 hours. Very large collections may take slightly longer so we can ensure accuracy and fairness.
- We handle the logistics.
- If you accept our offer, we’ll generate prepaid shipping labels and provide clear instructions for securely packaging and shipping your firearms. For estates or larger collections, we can accommodate special circumstances as needed.
- Receive payment after inspection.
- Once your collection arrives, our team inspects each firearm to confirm condition. Payment is issued immediately — no delays, no hidden fees and no surprises.

How selling a collection through We Buy Guns compares to your other options
Usually fast, but most shops have limited cash on hand and may not specialize in older, rare or high-value pieces.
Offers often favor a quick resale, not the long-term collector value.
Potential upside, but you wait for the sale, pay commissions and still carry uncertainty around final prices and timelines.
Can take months, involve strangers and require you to manage listings, messages and transfers one gun at a time. For estates, that can add stress to an already heavy situation.
You get a single, expert valuation and offer for the entire collection, prepaid shipping labels and clear expectations up front. No fees, no pressure and no need to piece out guns one by one.

Frequently asked questions
If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, reach out to customer support or View all FAQs
- How does the process work for selling a full collection or estate?
- You’ll start by filling out our intake spreadsheet with the make, model, caliber and condition of each firearm. After reviewing your list, our team will send you a written offer. If you choose to move forward, we’ll provide prepaid shipping labels and simple instructions for packing. Once we receive and inspect the firearms, we issue payment right away.
- Is this service free?
- Yes. We will review your firearms and provide an offer on your collection for free. If you choose to sell your collection to us we will guide you through the entire process, handle all the paperwork for you and pay shipping costs.
- How long does it take to receive an offer?
- Most collections are reviewed within 72 hours. Very large collections may take a bit longer so we can evaluate each item accurately, but we will keep you updated throughout the process.
- How should I photograph and organize my collection?
- Place the photos for each firearm in its own folder and name the folder to match the spreadsheet line. Clear, well-lit photos of both sides, serial number, sights and any accessories help us give the most accurate offer.
- How do you determine the value of my collection?
- Each firearm is reviewed by an experienced firearms expert. We consider condition, market demand, configuration and collector interest. We do not use automated tools or algorithms. Every valuation is done by a real person. If you would like to research values of your frearms before you submit, view our valuation guides.
- Do you buy NFA items and transferable machine guns?
- Yes. We purchase transferable machine guns, SBRs, suppressors and other NFA items. The process is slightly different due to ATF transfer requirements, but our team will guide you through every step.
- Is it legal to ship firearms from my state?
- Yes. You are shipping the firearms directly to our licensed facility, which is legal in all 50 states. You are covered under our federal firearms license, just as if you walked into our store. View shipping details.
- When do I get paid?
- Payment is issued as soon as we receive and inspect your firearms. Most customers are paid the same day their collection arrives at our facility. View payment details
- How do I safely ship a full collection?
- We provide prepaid shipping labels and packing instructions. You’ll package the firearms securely and drop them off with the carrier. For estates or large collections, we can help accommodate special situations.
- Do I have to sell my entire collection, or can I send only part of it?
- You are not required to sell your entire collection. Many customers sell a portion of their firearms and keep the rest. If you’d like, you can still list everything on the intake spreadsheet and note which items you’re considering selling so we can give you a complete picture of value before you decide.
